Squeak! 2018 was a good year until December. I can't complain. 2019 on the other hand has been quite the disappointment when it comes to quality time trackside. As I take more photos, I get more selective, and during the short days of winter from December 2018 to March 2019, there were zero good days to get out on weekends where I was not off playing with model trains. For this set of 36 photos, I literally used all 36 action photos I had since April 12, 2018. This is not a "best of" set, it is an "all of" set. There is not a 37th photo! My wonderful Abo Canyon experience in 2010, has attracted me back there for the past three years, and this time, I was pleased enough with one photo from the Scholle, NM overpass to select it as "Photo of the Year". I selected this one since it features a matched set of five unites, all in the latest BNSF paint scheme, and all GE. I'd have settled for all EMD too of course. Imagine a matched set of five SD70ACE's! Like last year, I made another trip to the Rusty Armadillo RV park to enjoy the bird's eye Brazos River scene, and did even better than last year's photo of the year at that location! I expect I'll be back there in May 2019 and back to Abo Canyon in November 2019. But what will be new this year? Perhaps some Colorado and maybe even Wyoming action. |
