Message of the day - April 4, 1998:

Hi everyone,

Well, today I am posting the last three shots from contributor Jim Gehrett. We will see more from him on posted to the BN Photo Archives soon.

We also have a new contributor to welcome, Nathan Beauheim. He sent several Santa Fe and BNSF slides. Most of it was once again that subject-too-distant action stuff. Nathan was a good boy while railranning in Belen, NM and stayed behind the fence (see B40-8W #539) where a couple locomotives did pass by close enough for good roster profile shots.

Occasionally, I do let some subject-too-distant shots slip in if the surrounding scene makes up for it. One such case is Jim's shot of C44-9W #1029 passing though Hinsdale, IL. You can't make out much detail on the locomotive, but at least you can read the number (just barely), and this may be the best shot overall that he sent IMHO. I can see a lot more people using this as their desktop picture or "wallpaper" - especially if you like to see pumpkins pulling intermodal like I do!

Well, hope you like what you see so far. As always, I welcome your comments, criticism, and most of all, contributions! Feel free to e-mail me - cbiel@sbcglobal.net.

Enjoy!
