Message of the day - January 17, 1998:

Hi everyone,

Today I am posting ten more shots from contributor Ken Kessler. This is the third batch of slides I have received from Ken, and this one is pretty large - 119 slides. This should keep me busy for the rest of this month, and a good chunk of February as well.

I am also making more new expanded roster pages as I go and have simplified the individual pages. More info (and scrolling) for the people who want historical data, and less for those who don't. Much simpler site maintenance for me (I hope - we'll see).

Sounds a lot like the last MOTD, doesn't it?

Well, I guess I do have something to add. One of today's images is of a particularly interesting unit to me (and Randy Keller too). We both like Mopac in WHATSNEW to BN, and find it particularly interesting when a unit makes it from the Mopac roster to the BN roster. I think there are only three such units, and GP39E #2922 is one of them. I also happen to have a shot of this in Mopac colors (in the UP "Canary Yellow" scheme even) as GP35 #2606. As pictured, the unit has been de-turbocharged. Mopac did this to a few GP35's. Note that when EMD rebuilt it for BN, it is again turbocharged, with a stack much like a normal GP35 (though internally the rebuilt engine is more typical of a GP39-2, hence the GP39E name).

This web page is made from 100% recycled electrons.
