Message of the day - October 22, 1998:

Hi everyone,

Here are five more shots of Heritage I painted units. All five are GE B23-7's. Several of them seemed to show up over the summer down here. Just got done with that unit roster page, and was surprised at how new some of the latter B23-7's were (built in December 1985).

Now that I am working on these roster pages, I really should update my contribute page. Photos are still my main thing, but as young as BNSF is, it is changing very fast, so I could use information as well. One thing I could use that I have asked for before (and fortunately recieved some response) was builder numbers and dates of new BNSF units. Another thing I could use is notes on repainted or even relettered/renumbered units. You'l notice that most of the BNSF unit numbers in my roster lists are in parentheses. This means that the unit has not yet received its new number to my knowledge. While I do not have a field for paint scheme or renumbering changes, that is a thought. I'm sure several years from now (now too, for that matter), people will be very interested to know what units where in what scheme at what time. I occasionally get such questions about BN predecessor roads, and in the mid-70's BN annuals, there was a good effort to trace down what units still survived in predecessor paint. I'm sure lots of people want to know what units are repainted now, and in about 5 years, the opposite question, which predecessors still survive, will be the norm. History indeed repeats itself.

So for those of you that take photos, but aren't interested in sending them, and even those of you who don't take photos, and just watch the trains go by; if would be willing to let me know what you have seen repainted or relettered and when, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks, and enjoy!
