Message of the day - July 9, 2009:

Hi everyone,

Nothing like getting it right on the first try, unlike last month. I decided to get out today despite the fact that it was 103 degrees out or if you believe my car's thermometer, 112 degrees:

112F

Perhaps it wasn't that hot, but I can't say I've ever noticed the car thermometer to be that high before.

Anyway, I figured if it was hot outside, the action trackside might also be hot, if for no other reason because there ought to be lots of coal trains running to meet demands for air conditioning. Sure enough, I think I saw 5 BNSF coal trains, and one UP even though I wasn't looking for it. On top of that, I scored a couple BNSF grain trains too, so apparently people still are eating too.

I caught a couple GE's that were less than a year old, so figured I ought to update the roster pages. They sure needed it.

ES44DC - before = 295, after = 727.
ES44AC - before = ?, after = 546.

And here I am with less than 25 photos of each. But hey, in both cases I have more now, and a better idea just how far behind I am!

Enjoy!
