Hi everyone,
Here are five more photos from new contributor John Jacobs. While this was not exactly my intention going into today, I should mention that one of today's photos is particularly fitting as a tribute to the employees of the West Burlington, IA shops which I understand ceased operation as of yesterday. I did visit the location once, and got a few photos while there, but more importantly, met Robert C. Del Grosso for the first time at that location. Just a small world kind of event, but that led to me sending him hundreds of slides, of which dozens have been published. I figure that is the least I could do considering the amount of his work I use in these roster pages. And the least I can do for the employees of West Burlington is give them mention as I post this photo of SD40-2 #7221 as it is being transformed into SD40-2B #7500. Perhaps the facility will live on under the ownership of another party, as is the case with the Livingston, MT shops. Time will tell. Enjoy, Charles |
